I once knew a practice manager, let’s call her Sally. Sally and I have worked hand and hand for over 15 years together to make sure that her practice is optimal. Sally and I would meet for our Quarterly Business Review each quarter where we would do the IT check ups, to make sure the practice is HIPAA compliant and secured. In one of our meetings we discuss that years new Cyber security stack that we were going to implement to increase security. Well just about 3 months after of us implementing, one of Sally’s employees clicked on what they thought was an email from a vendor. Turns out, it was a virus. It locked up everything on the computer. Sally calls us worried thinking the worst had happened but fortunately we were already aware of the issue thru our new security stack and already had isolated the ransomware. Sally became a cyber security evangelist. If she can, we all can.
